New Challenge – This time a Hotel Challenge from SAS….

here is a much activity from SAS these weeks. No I have received another targeted mail with a invitation to participate in a Hotel challenge on how many nights I can stay at a Radisson Blu hotel in Scandinavia. The setup is the same as for flights and points are:

3 nights = 6000 points
5 nights = 12000 points
7 nights = 24000 points

It starts from October 15th to December 20th, so over 2 months.

Widerøe – Use of Optiontown is possible now

Widerøe is now starting up with cooperation with Optiontown on two new offerings. The first is Empty Seat Option and the other is the Flexibility Reward Option.

Revisited – a 20 min movie about Frequent Flyer and why we do it….

In 2009 Gabriel Leigh made a 20 min movie about frequent flyers and this explains very shortly why people like me are doing what they are. It is a mixture of a hobby and searching to try out premium travels to remote destinations – even if it is only for a week

A loooong delay at CPH today due to strike amongst the security people

The longest waiting time I have ever seen in CPH. All was closed due to a strike and pictures of people standing for over 100 meters in line.

The “waiting time” clock on the web site tells it all

Længste flyruter – Noget der er på ToDo listen…

Fik lige lavet en oversigt over de længste flyruter. Grunden var at den længste på 18h55mog den næst længste på 17h25m lukker her ultimo året.

En skam at Singapore Airlines lukker deres længere ruter grundet Airbus “bytte bytte købmand” med A380 og A350 modeller da de 19 timer var en A330-500 all business class. Dette ville jeg godt have leget en smule med. Og netop fordi det er STAR ALLIANCE og dermed det ville give ret så gode bonuspoint at tage sådanne en tur

Det er virkeligt offentlig transport i den stil jeg kan lide det

Men hvad er så den længste?

Her er listen:

18 timer og 55 minutter: Det tager den 15.345 kilometer lange rute mellem Singapore og Newark Lufthavn i New York. Singapore Airlines har fløjet ruten siden juni 2004, men vil lukke den i slutningen af november 2013.
17 timer og 25 minutter: Det tager den 14.114 kilometer lange rute mellem Singapore og Los Angeles. (16 timer og 30 minutter den modsatte vej). Singapore Airlines har fløjet ruten siden februar 2004, men vil lukke den i slutningen af oktober 2013.
16 timer og 55 minutter: Det tager den 13.582 kilometer lange rute mellem Johannesburg og Atlanta (15 timer og 20 minutter den modsatte vej). Delta Airlines har fløjet ruten siden juni 2009.
16 timer og 20 minutter: Det tager den 13.420 kilometer lange rute mellem Dubai og Los Angeles (15 timer 50 minutter den modsatte vej). Emirates har fløjet ruten siden oktober 2008.
15 timer og 20 minutter: Det tager den 13.804 kilomter lange rute mallem Sydney og Dallas (ruten flyves med stop den modsatte vej). Quantas har fløjet ruten siden februar 2011.

Oslo – SAS Ground Service on the job in -18 degrees

On the flight from OSL to CPH in a MD8x from 1991 I had my favorite seat at 21F (Emergency Exit). Due to the cold weather we had the SAS Ground Service to inspect the wings. Nice to see that the job was done with quality

We of course have to deice as well.

Who will pay for an app to search cheap airfares on Ryan Air?

Just saw this app on the Apple App Store:

While all other airlines do this for free Ryan Air tries to get money out of even searching for a cheap ticket. Not a surprise but still a bit over the line…. You cannot even get your boarding card on the phone via the app so you still risk being called “stupid” by the the airline if you do not print it out from home….
