B787 – is it different…

Just heard the following quote in an interview/report from a pilot who just have completed the first part of the B787 flight training (simulator):

Much of the cockpit seems like it was designed by Apple. The Control Display Units (CDUs) are virtual, so you can move them from one MFD to another. In fact, you can configure the displays in 48 different ways, I think, though we have found a few favorites we will use to keep it simple. To move the cursor from one MFD to another, you can either use a button, or you can “flick” your finger across the trackpad (Cursor Control Device) to fling the cursor from one screen to the next – much like an iPad.

I do not find it so funny that a pilot need to “slide” to find the right screen out of 48 different one… “Sorry – I could not find the altimeter in time….”. I will play with the iPad in flight. The pilot is flying the plane :-)

The pilot end with this quote:

I think the 787 will be a great plane, but there could be some surprises with this level of innovation. Time will tell.

In flight: Short-haul business class on Lufthansa

Friday I was booked in M from FRA-CPH and when I scanned my boarding card one of the nice things occurred. The self service machine printed out a new seat for me with the word “upgrade”.

New Seat

So into the seat and as always on C in short-haul in Europe the only seat difference are the blocked middle seat which is nice on a fully booked flight.

Shortly after take off the cabin crew started to serve the light meal. Today it was a salad with salmon and dandelions (it was my first time). It was quite good with a light meal on this short flight. As dessert a Praline cream with berries. Nice and sweet.

Menu
Food

All in all a good flight with a crew that preformed as expected and a on time arrival to CPH.

Off all the places in the world I would not have guessed that there was a Samurai Training Camp in Basel/CH….

Hastighedstest

Sååå er ret så tilfreds med situationen og over et IT produkt der virker med det samme og var rent “plug and play”.

Welcome to the future on boarding cards…

Long awaited but finally got it this week. SAS Smart Pass was in the post and looking forward to start using it as boarding card, access to fast track/lounges and at the gate. No more using the mobile site and waiting for the 2D barcode.

It is getting easier:

1. Check in online (web or phone)
2. Go to the airport and use Smart Pass
3. Fly and enjoy :-)

Costly to travel…

Had to renew my passport as we are getting close to the “6 month to expire” date. 5 min at the town hall and EUR 90,- less on the account. Only good thing is there is now space for more stamps from all over the world :-)

A new drivers license is coming up – same price tag….

Life is great but costly :-)
